Step 2

Cut out the template, and trace around the pieces on colour paper or card. Card will have more strength and will support the antlers better than paper. Cut out the pieces.

Your pieces should look similar to the ones below.

Step 3

Assemble your reindeer headband.

  1. Place the main section of your headband down.
  2. Glue the light brown rounded rectangles to either side of the bottom of your headband
  3. Glue the black circles towards the rounded sections of each rectangle. These are your eyes.
  4. Glue the white circles on top of the black circles.
  5. Glue the smaller pink ear sections on top of the larger brown ear sections. Run a stripe of glue along the front bottom of each ear and attach to the back of your headband, on either side of your antlers.
  6. Glue the back of a small pom pom and attach to the centre of your reindeer headband. Don’t have a pom pom? Cut a circle from colour paper or craft foam instead.
  7. Punch a hole on both sides of your headband. Thread through a piece of yarn, ribbon or even elastic, on both sides and secure with a knot.

I hope you have as much fun making your reindeer headbands as my daughter and I did! The students at my school loved them too. The colouring version is so quick and easy to make, and made a great lunchtime Christmas activity in my library.
